This week with our Pre-school and Grade R learners we did a fantastic story called “A Trip to the Market.” They were able to listen and interact with the story at their own pace. This facilitated them with hand-eye co-ordination and auditory skills. It was Anna’s Granma’s birthday so Anna had to get a gift from the market. We taught them what the difference between a market and supermarket was. We explored the market and had fun shopping for Granma’s birthday as there were so many amazing gifts to choose from! In the end we saw that the children really enjoyed story time and we did too!

We got very creative this week with our Grade 1’s and 2’s. We started off by asking them their favourite food and restaurants. Spur and McDonalds was the top two preferred choices which didn’t surprise us! We then opened 2Publish+ and went to Menu Card where we asked them to create a menu for their restaurant with three food items and create a unique name for their restaurant. One of the names that stood out to us was “Arrr you hungry?” which was a pirate themed restaurant. We also saw some very expensive food which cost a million rand!! In the end the children made amazing menu cards which we think is fit enough to be used in a restaurant!
This week we started our term project with our Grade 6 to 7’s. We had a group discussion on what e-safety is and how to be safe online. We then opened 2Connect and made a mind map on how to be safe online and why we use the internet. It was shocking as the list of why we use the internet was endless! We are super excited to see how this term’s project goes and to see what their presentations will look like. We chose this topic as we believe it is such an important issue that we would like to educate our children on.
We wanted all Mothers to feel special on this day so we decided to what other way than to make a card? On 2Publish Plus, we have used the card tool to help the children create their own cards. They were able to create their own borders, draw pictures and write a special message to their mom’s. We asked each child why they cherished their mom and we loved their answers. Some of them were because she’s beautiful, she sleeps next to me, or just because she loves me too. To all the beautiful mothers out there... Happy Mothers Day!
